About us - The vendor-independent web conferencing Tester

The makers of www.webconferencing-test.com

Introducing Publicare, an online marketing agency based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. We've been using Web conferencing solutions on a day-to-day basis since 2003.

The idea behind the Website

We use online meeting tools a lot. From Australia to Finland - our clients are based all over the world. We couldn't imagine life without our Web conferencing solutions. We use the solution GoToMeeting by Citrix Systems (and occasionally also the tools by WebEx) on a daily basis for project management, sales and support. Before selecting Citrix GoToMeeting for the agency, we tested a wide range of web conferencing solutions. And we realized that there is no vendor-independent Website that gives a quick overview of the leading solutions. So we decided to fill the void. And that is exactly what we have done with this Website. At the same time, it is an experiment in affiliate marketing. Can an affiliate-marketing Website with content geared toward the needs of the user be self-financing? We certainly hope so!

Financing of this Website

We, the Website operator, are making the entire investment, and therefore shouldering all associated financial risk. To ensure vendor-independence, the Website will refinance itself solely through affiliate partnerships. If a visitor to the Website signs up for a free trial of one of the solutions recommended, we receive a small amount in affiliate compensation. If the visitor then licenses the software for a fee, we receive sales commission in addition. Of the solutions tested, Citrix, Netviewer and Dimdim currently have an affiliate program - from Citrix we receive 3 dollars per trial account opened, and 100 dollars per paid-for account. We receive 25 € per trial account, and 75 € per paid-for account from Netviewer. A sales commission (15% from the net sales price) will be paid by Netviewer. From Dimdim we receive up to 30 dollars per paid-for account. Please be ensured that these sales commissions will not be added to your subscription fee you pay for any regular Web conferencing account.

Why this Website is vendor-independent

This Website was not created on behalf of, or financed by, any of the vendors of the solutions tested. The operator does not receive any remuneration for portraying the solutions in a certain way. Our editorial team is solely responsible for the content of the Website.

As we have been an e-mail marketing service provider to Citrix - the present owner of GoToMeeting - since late 2002, we consider it necessary to explain the full background, in order to avoid misunderstandings. Back in 2003, before GoToMeeting existed, we already used its technological predecessor, GoToMyPC - developed and sold at that time by Expertcity. We can prove that through our user account statements. At the same time, we began to work as an e-mail marketing service provider for Citrix Systems. In March 2004, Citrix acquired Expertcity and, shortly afterwards, launched GoToMeeting, a solution that had been developed by Expertcity. Since then, we have been a regular, paying customer of GoToMeeting. In other words: one of our clients acquired the vendor of Web conferencing solutions of our choice, and which we had been using for some time. That is pure coincidence!
